GAIL: Farmers interest safe
State industries minister MC Sampath on Monday informed the state Assembly that the government would protect the interests of farmers of seven districts falling within GAIL pipeline’s trajectory.

He was replying to a Special Call Attention motion notice given by various members to discuss the issue. All steps would be taken to ensure that the farmers would not face even small amount of trouble, the minister said after listing out the various steps taken by the government State on the issue, including moving the apex court and submitting a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention.
Earlier, Opposition leader MK Stalin recalled union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan’s statement that GAIL had said it was not feasible to lay high pressure cross-country gas pipelines along the highways as was suggested by Tamil Nadu government.
