Mother, kid murdered; found tied in sacks

People who went to work on Monday morning noticed foul odour emanating from a well on the out skirts of the village and found three jute sacks floating inside. On information, police rushed to the spot.

They took out the sacks and opened them to see the mutilated body of a woman without legs in one sack and the legs alone in another. The third sack had the body of a child.

When the list of missing persons was verified, police found that the identities matched with Muthulakshmi (35) and her son Harish. Their family members, who were called by the police, also identified that the bodies belonged to Muthulakshmi and Harish. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and the police has begun the investigation. 

It is said that Muthulakshmi was residing at Pudhukudi near Kallal with her two children, her husband Azhagu was working in the middle-east. On July 14, she along with her son went missing and Azhagu too returned after he was informed of his wife’s missing.
