Three Karur guards kidnapped for ransom rescued within hours
Three private security guards on duty at the house of a businessman in Karur, who were reportedly kidnapped for a ransom of Rs 3 crore on Wednesday morning and were rescued within hours by cops after a high drama.

Sources said that Swaminthan of Veerarakkiam near Mayanur has been running a dairy farm adjacent to his residence. Alaguraj (35), Kandasamy (60) of Panchapatti and Swaminathan (50) of Veerakkiam were working with a private security firm were posted as guards for the house and the dairy.
Meanwhile, during the wee hours of Wednesday, a gang came in two cars there and smashed the CCTV cameras installed in front of the house. Then the miscreants attempted to get into the house. However, the security guards tried to stop them from entering the house. On hearing the noise, the workers from the dairy farm ran towards the entrance of the house. But by the time they reached the gate, the gang had forcibly dumped the three security men in their vehicles and fled the spot.
Later, the workers lodged a complaint with the Mayanur police and narrated the whole incident. On information, the Karur Superintendent of Police Rajasekar rushed to the spot and conducted an inquiry with the owner and the workers of the dairy farm. Meanwhile, the miscreants called up Swaminthan over phone and had reportedly demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore to release the three security guards. The caller had asked Swaminathan to come to Vedasanthur to pay the ransom.
Following this, the police told Swaminathan to go to Vedasanthur in the guise of paying the amount and tailed him. When Swaminathan reached Vedasanthur, one of the gang members came to the spot to collect the money. Police immediately swung into action and arrested that person, while his associates managed to escape from the spot leaving the three guards. Later, all of them were rescued. Cops are interrogating the arrested man to nab the other members of the gang.
