After the expulsion of Sasikala Pushpa from AIADMK a number of complaints have reached various state government agencies in the state. One of the complaints was filed by her maid Banumathi with the Thoothukudi Superintendent of Police recently claiming that Sasikala Pushpa, her husband and their son had sexually abused and harassed her. Banumathi had demanded action against motherin-law of Sasikala Pushpa who harassed when she did not do as ordered by her. M Ashwin Kotnis, SP, forwarded the complaint to Thoothukudi Rural ASP, Deepa Ganiger.

ASP then forwarded it to Pudukottai AWPS. Inspector of Pudukottai AWPS Annathai, then conducted investigation with the maid and based on her complaint a case was booked under six sections against four persons. The six sections are 294(b), 323, 344, 354A, 506(i) of IPC and 4 of Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act, 2002, and the four accused are: Sasikala Pushpa, her husband Lingeswara Thilagan, her son Pratheep Raja and her mother-in-law Gowri. Police claimed that all the four would be summoned to appear for investigation and, if they did not turn up for investigation, an arrest warrant would be issued against them. This is the first case filed against Sasikala Pushpa since her expulsion from the party.
