A release from Senior Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) A K Gawas on Wednesday said the training programme was being conducted in three batches, each consisting of 35 candidates. The self- employment training institute of Indian Bank, which is a unit of Indian Bank Trust for Rural Development, is offering the training as per the programme evolved by the Union Rural Development Ministry, it said. Certificates would be issued by the institute at the end of the training, enabling the trainees to launch self-employment projects. The release further said the Puducherry Police Welfare Society has planned to conduct training for the dependants of police personnel on various courses including jewel making, saree printing, food processing, computer course including advance computer skills, yoga and driving classes among others. The programmes are a sequel to the assurances Lt Governor Kiran Bedi had given during her interaction with the police personnel recently.
