Delta farmers want Rajini to be ambassador for interlinking rivers
Farmers’ association has sought the support of Superstar Rajinikanth to be their goodwill ambassador for agriculture and interlinking of Indian rivers.

To iterate their request, the farmers have planned to meet the actor at his residence in Chennai on August 17 and seek Rs one crore as donation from his towards the project of interlinking Indian rivers. Addressing mediapersons on Friday, P Ayyakannu, state president of Desiya-Thenindiya Nadhigal Inaippu Vivasayigal Sangam, said, “Recently Lt Governor of Puducherry Kiran Bedi requested Rajinikanth to be the brand ambassador of Puducherry. On the heels of such request, we, the Cauvery delta farmers, want Superstar Rajinikanth to nominate himself as goodwill ambassador of agriculture community.” He also said that Tamil Nadu was being victimised in various river sharing disputes between all three neighbouring states and only solution was to the issue is to interlinking the national rivers.
“Earlier, Rajinikanth had assured us to provide Rs one crore towards the interlinking of Indian rivers. Hence, we request the actor to donate the money to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the project that would help the farmers across the state,” Ayyakannu said and added that they would visit the actor on August 17 at his residence.
