Bus rams Metro Rail pillar near Udhayam
A Metro Transport Corporation bus from Koyambedu to Padappai hit a Metro Rail pillar near Udhayam theatre in Ashok Nagar while negotiating a curve on Monday morning.

Chennai
Ten persons including the bus driver suffered injuries and were admitted to the ESI Hospital at KK Nagar. None of the injuries were critical, according to the police.
Police said the bus driver lost the control while taking the curve and the vehicle dashed against the Metro Rail pillar. The lower portion of the pillar suffered damage.
Meanwhile, the public have assailed the unscientific design of the pillar which, they say, has been erected on the middle of the road, as a cause for the accident.
People say bigger vehicles find it difficult to negotiate the curve and accidents are common at this spot. Guindy traffic investigation wing has registered a case, and further investigations are on.
