Farmers plan protest at 1,000 spots
Members of the Cauvery Urimai Meetpu Kulu announced a series of protests at 1,000 spots across the State on September 23 to pressurise the Centre to get the share of Cauvery water from Karnataka for Samba cultivation.

Speaking to the media persons, the coordinator P. Maniarasan said, as there was no kuruvai cultivation for the past five years, the status of samba cultivation had become questionable this year.
“This is due to the soft approach of the State which keep writing letters like a document writer to the Centre. The Chief Minister should meet her Karnataka counterpart personally and demand release of Cauvery water,” he said.
In order to stress upon the State government to insist that the Centre get the share of water, the Cauvery Urimai Meetpu kulu has decided to organise a series of protests.
