Lankan students out of school for want of documents
The future of about 15 Lankan refugee kids of a private school in Achirupakkam became uncertain as they were removed from the institution for want of adequate documents.

Chennai
According to sources, three brothers, Gnanadeepan, Gnananendiran and Gnanaraja, all nationals of Sri Lanka were running a home for Tamil refugees’ children as part of their NGO activities in a rented house at Achirupakkam near Chengalpattu.
A majority of the inmates at the home were wards of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees staying in different camps across Tamil Nadu and in Bengaluru in the neighbouring state of Karnataka. There were totally 55 kids staying at the private facility.
All the inmates were studying in various schools in areas in and around Achirupakkam. Some of them were also studying in government schools.
Recently, one of the private schools refused to allow the children to continue in their institution as the nationality certificates for the kids were not submitted. The school made it clear that they won’t allow the students to continue without the required document.
Sources said that officials of various departments, who got a tip off about the home, were reportedly gathering information in the area about the facility run by the Lankan brothers for the children of the refugees.
Enquiries are also under way about the background of Perinba Nayagam, the manager of the NGO. Four persons, who were deployed for the security of the children at the home, were reportedly being questioned, sources said. Besides, the sleuths were also verifying whether proper permission was obtained to run the home.
When contacted, Kancheepuram education officials assured to look into the issue.
