Rise in inflow into Stanley reservoir
The Mettur dam has registered an increased inflow of water for the last few days. The inflow, which was at 4,102 cusecs on Friday, rose to 5,028 cusecs on Saturday.

On Sunday, it increased to 6,048 cusecs. The increase followed the combined release of about 10,000 cusecs of water from Karnataka’s Kabini and Krishnarajasagar dams across the Cauvery in the last few days, thanks to widespread rainfall in the catchment areas.
PWD is releasing 500 cusecs of water from the dam for meeting the drinking water needs. PWD sources said the water level in the Stanley reservoir was 64.89 feet on Saturday and it was at 65.48 feet against its full level of 120 feet at 8 am on Sunday.
The officials are hopeful of a further rise in water level in the coming days as the inflow is 10 times more than the volume of water released from the dam. The heavy inflow has made the Dharmapuri district administration to issue warning to boat operators and tourists in Hogenakkal to follow safety measures while bathing or boating in the river. The boat operators are permitted to go up to the view tower. Police and fire and rescue services personnel have been deployed in good numbers at the spot.
