In the wake of rise in number of self-immolation attempts at the Collectorate here, a two-wheeler fire fighting vehicle has now been stationed with three personnel to foil any such attempt by public visiting the premises.

Three personnel from Cantonment fire station on a two-wheeler equipped with two blankets, a water bucket, two water extinguisher and two foam extinguisher have been stationed close to the spots where the petitions would be registered on the eastern side of the Collectorate.
It is the spot where ‘aggrieved’ petitioners used to make such attempts in a bid to draw the attention of the officials and media persons.
Sources in the Collectorate said despite a strict screening by cops at all entrances, some petitioners manage to sneak into the premises with inflammable materials.
“Even if they enter the Collectorate, the new measure will help to prevent their attempts and rescue them. The vehicle will be stationed at the spot on all Mondays, the day on which grievance redressal meetings will be held,” said a fire and rescue services personnel.
