Kamal Haasan dedicates his award to the audience

The award which is the highest French honour is presented in order to recognise people who have contributed for promoting arts. Sathyajit Ray, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Nandita Das and Sivaji Ganesan are the prominent people from the Indian film fraternity to have received the distinction of Legion. 

“I salute my forerunners Sathyajit Ray and Sivaji Ganesan who made even the common man realise the value of this honour. This award humbles me rather than stiffen me with pride. My journey in this chosen field of mine has not been alone, teachers and admirers have been there for me and have applauded my every little step forward. I dedicate this award to my admirers and audience who have given me the tenacity of purpose to pursue till this day,” said Kamal Haasan in a statement. 

Prominent people from the industry, Sivakumar, Suriya, Karthi, Prabhu Ganesan, Vikram Prabhu and Nadigar Sangam members, greeted the actor on Monday morning.
