Wet weather to last for a few days
Weather experts have predicted that the cloudy weather in the city would continue for the next few days with moderate rain along with thunderstorms in certain parts of the state.

Chennai
An official from Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, said, “The sky condition will remain overcast for the next few days. Rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur in parts of Chennai and surrounding areas. In other districts, thunderstorms and rains (with an intensity of 25 to 50 per cent) are likely to occur is certain parts of the state. There is upper air circulation over coastal Andhra (upper bay), which is expected to develop into a low pressure area by August 26, leading to rainfall.”
Srikanth K, a weather blogger at Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikaalam (COMK), has forecast moderate thunderstorms over the weekend. “The monsoon has become weak on the West Coast, with Karnataka and Kerala receiving 50 per cent lesser rain than what is usually expected in August. But now, due to low upper air moisture and clearer skies Chennai is hotter than normal, there is a possible low pressure forming in the West Central Bay, which is around coastal Andhra Pradesh. Because of this instability, we will see thunderstorms in the evening, improving our chances for rain,” concluded this weather blogger.
