Draft electoral rolls to be published today
The draft electoral rolls would be published on September 1, with the entire month of September being reserved for filing claims and objections, said Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni.

Additionally, September 11 and 25 (both Sundays) have been reserved for special campaigns to receive claims and objections, while the draft electoral roll would be available on the website, www.elections.tn.gov.in. Photo electoral rolls would also be displayed in the offices of the RDO, municipal commissioners, and Tahsildars while in Chennai it would be available in the corporation zonal offices. The rolls would also be read out in gram sabha, local bodies and residents welfare association meetings on September 10 and September 24.
According to an official statement, the “possession of Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) is not sufficient to enable you to vote. You must be registered in the electoral roll in the place where you are residing” it adds.
While Form 6 is for first time voters and for those shifting from one assembly segment to another, Form 6A is for inclusion of Indians abroad, Form 8A is for those shifting residences within the same assembly constituency while Form 7 is for deletions and form 8 for correction of name, age, sex, relation type and image.
Photographs affixed in the requisite space in Forms 6, 8 and 8A would be incorporated in the electoral roll and to prepare EPIC. Stating that Form 6 should be accompanied by a self-attested photo copy of the passport if sent by post, he said that booth level officers would visit houses for verification.
