Now study in Tamil in Class 10 at Open School

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, P Ravi, Regional Director (Chennai region), NIOS, said that to cater to the needs of students from Tamil medium, NIOS has come up with study material in Tamil medium for 11 subjects — Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Home Science, Psychology, Indian Culture and Heritage, Accountancy, Painting and Data Entry Operations. 

“Students who want to take Class 10 exam in Tamil medium can do so at the end of this academic year in the April exam. Any of the four subjects from the 11 subjects along with one or two languages will enable a student to get Class 10 certificate from NIOS,” he said. 

Chairman of NIOS Prof. C B Sharma said that to help army jawans who have not finished their schooling and want to write Class 12 exam, NIOS will provide study materials, besides conducting classes on weekends and after duty hours. He added that for the hearing-impaired students, NIOS will record answers of students during class 10 exam and evaluate the student’s performance.
