Girl shamed on Facebook for exposing ‘casteist’ teacher
The Periyaristic Women’s Liberation Movement, an organisation working for the rights of Dalit women, on Saturday approached the city Commissioner of Police seeking action against a Facebook user who had publicly shamed a Class 9 Dalit girl student by posting her morphed seminude photograph with derogatory remarks.

Chennai
As per their complaint, the girl has been shamed online following her outburst against a teacher at her school in Panrutti, who had been allegedly insulting Dalit students in the school.
She had demanded action against the teacher as they Dalit students found it difficult to continue studied because of the harassment from the teacher and caste Hindu students.
Following this, a Facebook user ‘Kathir Vel Pmk’ had allegedly posted the morphed picture of the girl with derogatory remarks and she had been shamed through the comments to this post.
The organisation members said that already a girl, Vinupriya, had committed suicide after a miscreant posted her morphed picture online.
“We request the cybercrime wing to book a case against Kathir Vel under IT act and arrest him. We are going to meet the girl and seek other legal remedies,” Nathigan N, secretary of the organisation said.
The Dalit girl, in a media interview recently, had stated that one of her school teachers were making derogatory comments against Dalit students apart from telling the caste Hindu students to outclass them.
He also reportedly refused to take classes for Dalit students. As the media interview of the girl became popular, it seems to have irked the caste Hindu students.
