A medical student, pursuing MS at Sree Ramachandra Medical University at Porur, was allegedly raped by a room boy at a resort in Mahabalipuram on Saturday night.

Chennai
Police said the girl, who was in an inebriated condition, was asleep in a room at a resort in Mahabalipuram. Her friend was also staying with her in the same room.
Initial investigations turned the needle of suspicion on a resort room boy. However, police are also probing the role of an acquaintance, who was staying in the adjacent room, of her friend.
Police said the girl and her friend had not bolted the door before going to bed as both were in an inebriated condition.
The girl realised what had happened only when she woke up the next morning and approached the All Women Police Station, Mahabalipuram. Police later took the girl to a hospital and the sexual assault was confirmed.
Even after 48 hours of the incident, the police have not made any arrest. When DTNext contacted the Kancheepuram SP Mutharasi, she said only investigations were on in the case.
Sources told this paper that police have detained the girl’s lover and a hotel employee but had not made any arrest even after the girl had given clear references in her complaint.
Police said the lovers had come to Mahabalipuram to celebrate the weekend and after sightseeing they had checked into the resort. Sources said the two consumed liquor in the night and slept off without locking the door.
According to police, the resort room boy, who found the door unlocked and the girl lying on the bed in an inebriated condition, reportedly sexually assaulted her. Her friend was fast asleep when the incident happened.
Police have identified the room boy of the resort as Vijay Rao, a native of Andhra Pradesh.
