VCK functionary among 3 arrested for assaulting sub-inspector at Ennore
Three persons have been arrested by the Ennore police for assaulting a sub-inspector, who was on patrol duty on Sunday night.

Police said, Sub Inspector Dharmaraj of Ennore police station along with his driver Ramesh was on patrol duty in his limits. He intercepted a trio in a remote area and questioned their presence in that spot. The trio picked up an argument with the SI and suddenly assaulted him, before trying to flee the spot. Reacting quickly, Ramesh caught the trio, who were later identified as Pilot Premnath, Royapuram district Secretary of the VCK, Praveen (28) of Tiruvottiyur and Stefan Selvan (49) of Ernavur. Following a complaint from Dharmaraj cases were registered under IPC 341, 294 (b), 323 and 506 clauses 2 against the trio.
Cop injured in accident
A head constable of CB-CID suffered serious injuries after the vehicle which he was riding skidded on Beach Road on Sunday night. The victim, identified as Sundar Raj (47), was returning to his house in Mandaveli from Fort St George when the accident occurred. Sources said, Sundar skidded and fell while trying to avoid hitting a cow. He was rushed to Government Royapettah Hospital and later shifted to Apollo Hospitals. A case has been registered.
2 women held with ganja
Two women ganja-peddlers were arrested by a police team at Annai Sathya Nagar near the War Memorial on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a search on the houses of the two women identified as Shanthi (51) and Amalu (35), both residents of Annai Sathya Nagar and found over 1 kg of ganja packed into small packets. The women were arrested and remanded in custody.
Missing teen traced
A teenage boy, who had run away from his house on Sunday, was traced to his relative’s house in Avadi on Monday. Police said that Sanjay (14), a resident of Irandam Kattalai in Kundrathur, walked out of his house on Sunday after his father Elumalai scolded him for poor performance in studies. Acting on a complaint from the boy’s parents, Kundrathur police registered a case and a team launched a search for Sanjay. He was traced to a relative’s house in Avadi by the team.
