    Post-heist, thief flees on house owner’s bike

    A thief broke into a house at Sri Ganapathi Nagar, Kolathur, while the inmates were sleeping on the first floor of the house, looted 10 sovereigns of gold jewellery, Rs 50,000 in cash, an LED TV, DVD player and escaped on the two-wheeler belonging to the house owner.

    Police said Suresh (52) and his family were sleeping on the first floor when the thief broke open the lock of the main door to gain access into the house. Cops said that Suresh came to know of the theft only in the morning and thereby lodged a complaint with the Rajamangalam police station. Police are looking at CCTV grabs installed in the area to get possible leads to the thief. Police sources said the thief would have already changed the registration number of the bike. Investigations are on.

    3 held for burglary at ESI official’s house 

    The Sevvapet police arrested three youths on charges of burglary at the house of a retired ESI employee at Perumalpattu Kovil Kuppam, Veppampattu. Police have recovered two LED televisions, three sovereigns of gold jewellery and 500 grams of silver wares from the custody of the accsued. Of the three, two hail from Kannagi Nagar and the other hails from Pappan Kuppam. Police said the trio broke into the house of Mani on March 11 when he and his wife had gone to consult a doctor. They were identified as Tamizhvannan, Kallu Nithya, both from Kannagi Nagar and Nanda Kumar, from Pappan Kuppam. They were produced before magistrate court and remanded to judicial custody.
