To control the mosquito menace, 2,845 malaria workers have been deployed with equipment, including 586 portable fumigators, 245 handheld fumigators, 39 vehicles and three power sprayers.

The civic body is also monitoring fever cases in city hospitals under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). In case of fever cases, Corporation officials at the zonal level will be alerted to do what is necessary.

Domestic mosquito breeding is also being assessed by Domestic Breeding Checkers, who check 500 homes for sources of mosquito breeding. In addition, awareness programmes are being held across the city.

To check bio larvicide and Bacillus Thuringiensis, lakes and other waterbodies are regularly monitored for sources of larval breeding by 40 field workers from the vector control department. By using the High Accuracy Handheld Device-Vector Control Monitoring System, these field workers will update real-time images of larval presence in these sources.

The data will be collated and action taken to tackle mosquito breeding in the city.

The civic body also highlighted the efforts by the Medical Services department, which runs 14 metropolitan hospitals, 138 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC), three 24-hour emergency maternity hospitals and three maternity hospitals. Between 2011 and 2017, as many as 2,53,70,229 outpatients have been treated.

Between 2011 and 2017, a total of 84,004 women have undergone delivery in Corporation’s maternity hospitals. Out of this, 34,765 were Caesarean section (C-Section) deliveries. Around 59,707 women underwent sterilisation surgery for family planning during this period. Between 2011 and 2017, Rs 211,43,40,000 has been given out to pregnant women under maternity assistance schemes.
