CHENNAI: Two persons from West Bengal, including a 20-year-old woman, were found dead in a lodge in Triplicane on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as K Prasenjit Ghosh, (23) and M Arpita Pal (20), both from Bankura in West Bengal.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the duo checked into the lodge on Saturday around 9 pm. They claimed to be a married couple.

On Wednesday morning, one of the staff noticed foul smell emanating from the room and alerted the lodge management. The lodge manager, Chelladurai, alerted the police after which the door was opened with a master key.

Police found the slightly decomposed bodies of the two persons. The woman’s body was found with a pillow on her face while the man was lying nearby. Police secured the bodies and moved them to the Government Royapettah Hospital for autopsy.

Police suspect the man to have smothered the woman to death and later killed himself. Further investigations are on.
