    Walajabad godown fire death toll rises to 7

    A private gas agency situated in a village in Walajabad, which was owned by Jeevanandam, caught fire on Wednesday night and 12 of them who suffered severe burn injuries were admitted to the Chengalpattu GH and KMC.

    CHENNAI: The death toll in the Walajabad gas godown fire went up to seven as four more people died without responding to treatments on Monday. Police sources said three of them are in treatment in a critical condition.

    A private gas agency situated in a village in Walajabad, which was owned by Jeevanandam, caught fire on Wednesday night and 12 of them who suffered severe burn injuries were admitted to the Chengalpattu GH and KMC.

    The godown owner Jeevanandam, his daughter Sandhya and the worker Amothkumar died without responding to treatments in the next two days. On Monday early morning, Kishore, (13), a Class 8 student, Shanmugapriyan (22), Kunal and Gokul died without responding to treatments. Police sources said Nivetha (21) with 60 per cent burns, Tamilarasan (10) with 72 per cent burns, and Sakthivel (32) with 40 per cent burns are admitted to the KMC and are in very critical condition. Two others are under going treatement in Chengalpattu GH.
