Fashion designer Rehane Yavar Dhala suggests that one should not go in for elaborate costumes owing to the heavy downpour in the city. “Wearing a floor-length anarkali or an elaborate straight-cut lehenga might be trendy but the weather outside is definitely not suitable for them. As an alternative, go in for long skirts in straight cuts or fish tail and crop tops. You can also try a nice long silk kurta with palazzo pants. And if you are experimental, a short sequinned dresses,” she says.

Stylist Prajanya Anand agrees that the weather needs to be kept in mind while planning the Diwali look. “Yes the Indo-western gowns and lehengas have always been a great bet for festivals. But one has to be flexible, when it comes to the weather. I would suggest floral saris with digital prints and zardozi borders, long kurtas with skirts or even half saris. Those look elegant and are convenient to carry in such a wet climate,” she suggests.

    Traditional wear that is trending

    Floor length anarkali

It lends a rich look with minimal effort. So, if you are someone who just loves her anarkalis then flaunt them without any fear of them being out of fashion. Go for a floor-length anarkali in bright colours like emerald green, turquoise, and ruby red gold or silver embroidery.

    Long kurta with palazzos

If the flares of an anarkali or lehenga are too much for you, then go in for a chic kurta with palazzo pants. This outfit is very easy and light to wear and at the same time exudes elegance and glamour

    Skirt with crop top

This year skirts of all lengths and cuts have been trending majorly. Wear them with cropped tops or long kurtas, they will look great. Pair them with some traditional jewellery and you will have the perfect Indo-Western wear.
