Falguni and Shane Peacock, Osman Abdul Razak, Studio 9696, Swathi Purushothaman, Anuradhaa, Glamora by Sarath & KD, Maheshwari are some of the designers who will be showcasing their collections.
“Most of the fashion weeks are held in Mumbai and Delhi as there is prevalent misconception that Chennai is conservative, when it comes to fashion. But the newer generation is aspirational, they are looking for ways to groom themselves and appear presentable. The Fashion Premier Week intends to meet the demand of this section of society. It will also offer wide networking opportunities for designers, buyers, retailers and models, besides aligning with India’s vibrant cosmopolitan culture and platform for emerging models, designers and students of the fashion industry to unleash their potential,” says Hemachandran L, CEO of Brand Avatar, that is organising the fashion week.
“Our philosophy is life’s too short to blend in. Confidence is the key to wearing our garments. We have a range of easy short dresses, jackets, kaftans; hand-sewn individually constructed evening gowns, graphic and bold flamboyant slip dresses, luxurious detailed shifts, body con dresses and suits with intricate embellishments,” says Falguni of the brand Falguni and Shane Peacock.
Talking about their collection, city-based designer Sandeep Ravi of Studio 9696, shares, “Ours is a quirky Indian brand that gives bridal a new perspective by infusing western cut lines and unique couture embroidery to ethnic styles.”
