She talks about being inspired by mythology, her love for colours and fashion.

Tell us about the collection that you will be showcasing at the Indian Runway Week?

My collection is inspired from Varanam Aayiram or thousand elephants from the legend of Goddess Andal, who dreamt that Lord Vishnu descended from the heavens along with 1000 decorated elephants to ask for her hand in marriage. The silk sarees showcased in the collection have been weaved by traditional artisans hailing from Sirumugai, a small village in Coimbatore, located on the banks of the river Bhavani. The dresses play with different drapes, cuts and pleats in a mix of linen, silk and light cotton fabrics.

What is the differentiating factor of your designs?

It’s the way I play with colours. For instance, in this collection I have developed my own prints and motifs to suit the theme. I have played with different cuts and drapes. The bold motifs in it will surely stand out.

How does it feel to get a ticket to the Indian Runway Week 2016? 

I’m very excited. This is definitely a totally new experience. I would say this is my first big step into the world of fashion; a platform for me to be a part of other bigger events.
