Get into festive spirit with city’s first Christmas Market
In an effort to develop unique concept-based events that explore and showcase artistic creativity, culinary delight and stylish couture, three Chennai-based women Latika Arya Golyan, Shweta Mahtani and Deepali Goyal are bringing in the midnight Christmas Market to the city.

Chennai
If you ever travel to Europe around Christmas, you’ll discover a spectacular selection of Christmas markets with beautifully decorated log cabins where you can cosy up with a warm glass of mulled wine, pick up handmade gifts, ornate decorations, buy fashionable clothes and accessories as well as savour tasty treats.
The whole idea of X-mas markets is to spread joy and cheer. Now you need not plan a trip to Europe to experience the Christmas Market. Chennai is all set to have its own Christmas Market from from noon to midnight on the December 7 and 8 at the Crowne Plaza, Chennai Adyar Park hotel. “We have been avid travellers and have experienced the whole festivity surrounding Christmas in Europe, including the special markets that pop-up around this time. We realised it is an amazing concept and Chennai is absolutely ready to get a curated Christmas market. After three months of planning, we have come up with this special market,” says Deepali Goyal, one of the organisers of the event.
She, along with Latika Arya Golyan and Shweta Mahtani of Big Feed, intends to create fascinating experiences in the city and beyond starting with this Christmas Market. Right from showcasing eminent fashion designers like 431-88 by Shweta Kapur, Paridhi Jaipuria and Shradha Trehan, Ritu Jain Singh, Crazy Heart and Baroque and other home-grown brands like Gatsby, Montage and Vaph shoes and many more, to a delectable spread of gourmet food, organic goodies and much more will be under roof. “That’s not all. On the night of December 7, we will be recreating the concept of New York’s Please Don’t Tell Bar, for the first time in Chennai. Themed on the clandestine watering holes of the 1920s, ‘Speak Easy’ is sure to trigger your curiosity at every opportunity and offer an extraordinary experience. Also, enjoy a rib tickling act by a renowned standup comedian and some really good music,” says Deepali.
