Stars up their style game at awards night

South Indian film industries recently got together to celebrate the best performances, films and technical achievements in the year 2016. Like every other year, this year too saw stars pull out all the stops on the red carpet. Here are the fashion hits and misses from the star-studded event.

For the two-day event Shriya Sarin chose two very different looks. On day one, she wore a Manish Malhotra gown. Her nude, sheer bodice floor-sweeping gown, featuring red and blue embroidered roses, was styled with a pale pink lip and hair pulled up in a bun.

The gown looked pretty on her, but the crinkled fabric and exposed cups didn’t add much. However, she somewhat redeemed herself in her next appearance. She picked a shimmery fitted gown with waist cut-outs, plunging neckline and a matching cape by Esha Sethi Thirani. Oversized studs, gold clutch and sleek hair finished her look.

There’s a lot going on in the outfit, but to Shriya’s credit, she made it work. Lady superstar Nayanthara, who bagged two awards, donned a black chiffon sari with a studded sleeveless blouse made by her designer, Poorthi Pravin. Keeping everything else simple worked in her favour.

She looked effortlessly elegant. Meanwhile, Regina Cassandra opted for gowns on both days. She wore a red Sashi Vangapalli on the first and then sported a strapless green Shantanu and Nikhil on day two.

Between the two, we loved her in the green. Wearing the hair in a sleek do helped make the maang tikka look not too dramatic. However, Trisha didn’t quite impress in her Varun Bahl gown. The bikini-style bra that she wore with the heavily embellished gown was a complete deal breaker.
