Beauty Mantra: Skin care rules to keep in mind when you travel
As constant travellers, we know how much the skin gets neglected and we cannot really blame our traveller selves for it because the skin is not even the last thing on the mind.

The result — the always tired look with huge eye bags, dark circles, pimple marks, patchy complexion, brown spots and what not! Celebrity cosmetic dermatologist Dr. Chytra V Anand shares a few useful tips that one can follow during their travel.
Make sure that the face is adequately washed, at least twice — once in the morning and once before you go to sleep so that the skin is ridden of all the dust and dirt that got accumulated during the travel. Use a PH balanced cleanser and strictly avoid soaps as they rip the moisture off the skin.
We know how water is relaxing but it also dries skin and so, go for lukewarm to warm water while showering. And since fidgeting with the shower’s temperature isn’t really a pain, switch to random shots of cool water in between this will help lock the moisture in.
Every decent hotel you stay in will offer you loads of tea bags and 99.9 per cent of the times for free. So soak up two tea bags and then put them in the fridge to cool off. Before sleeping, put these bags on your eyes and see how it will miraculously relax your eyes and all the dark circles and eye bags will go away. Also, green tea is rich in antioxidants and drinking lots of it will help improve the skin texture and tone.
Watch your diet as you will be eating out a lot during your travel. Stay away from fatty junk foods like chips, sweets, cakes etc. Opt for fruits, vegetables, dry fruits etc. Try not to skip meals as you are more likely to be hungry and end up binge eating
If you are a person who tends to sweat a lot, make sure to carry a little bottle of antiperspirant/deodorant to help with the excessive sweating and body odour. You could also use talcum powder which will help absorb the sweat.
Always moisturise — use them right after the bath as the pores are still open and the skin has the ability to absorb more.
Drink lots of water, especially, if you are also drinking alcohol on your holiday. Remember alcohol dehydrates the body and skin leaving the skin looking dull and lifeless.
Cover yourself well whenever in the sun and especially if there is a lot of outdoor activity like trekking, spending time on the beach, sightseeing etc. Of course, sunscreen is the key word. Go for a minimum of 25 SPF and re-apply in about four hours if you are out constantly.
