Brangelina break-up has Internet in a tizzy

Actress Angelina Jolie has filed for a divorce from actor Brad Pitt, her husband of two years and romantic partner since 2005, her attorney said in a statement on Tuesday. Angelina and Brad, known collectively as Brangelina, were one of the entertainment world’s most visible couples, due to their popularity, successful films and activism. 

Fans across the globe were seen commenting and discussing the news. Many expressed their sadness at the couple splitting up, while the news also inspired numerous Jennifer Aniston memes. Pitt and Jolie became close while filming 2005’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith , prompting widespread speculation — consistently denied by the couple — that Jolie prompted Pitt’s divorce from Aniston. Pitt and Aniston announced their separation in January 2005. 

Jolie and Pitt had been together for 12 years and married in August 2014 in a private ceremony at their French chateau in the Provence hamlet of Correns.
