Makeover Magic: From rough and frizzy to smooth and shiny
Long or short hair, most women spend quite a bit of time figuring out their hairstyle for the day – one that’s not only fashionable but also easy to carry.

Chennai
It’s especially the ones with rough and frizzy hair who can relate to the ordeal of harsh brushing and combing which very often results in hair breakage. Neha, a 27-year-old media professional, who had also been having a tough time with her hair, walked into our salon with a specific requirement of getting a hairstyle that’s manageable and stylish. Understanding her lifestyle requirements, the experts analysed Neha’s dense and thick hair which was frizzy in nature. The experts were able to gauge that Neha struggled with the excess volume and heaviness of her hair thus making it challenging to try new hairstyles. Keeping this in mind, the experts opted to give Neha’s a simple yet stylish transformation.
Experts opted for the pro-keratin straightening in an effort to complement Neha’s sharp jaw line and high cheek bones. Straightening was suggested to help accentuate her sharp facial features. The process began by washing Neha’s untreated hair thoroughly with a specialised shampoo followed by drying the hair. A straightening cream was then applied to restructure the hair bonds and left to rest for 15 to 20 minutes. The hair was washed, rinsed and blow-dried again. Post this, the hair was straightened using an ironing machine and a neutraliser was then applied which held together the restructured bonds. It was left to rest for 15 minutes. The hair was then left to soak in a masque that seals the cuticles and conditions the hair, leaving it soft and shiny. The hair was washed again and dried. Hair serum was added to give lustre to the hair.
Tips
The first 72 hours after straightening and before the first hair wash are crucial for the final result. Here are a few tips:
- Do not wash hair within the first 72 hours.
- Hair should be worn straight, to allow the re-formed bonds to strengthen.
- Before sleep, make sure your hair is parted in two and let loose over the front of your shoulders.
- Do not use rubber bands or clips to tie your hair. These can damage the hair while it is still pliable.
- Use the professional and specialised home care shampoo, masque and serum as advised for a long-lasting smooth and straight look.
- Regular hair conditioning treatments at the salon to be taken every 21 days, or as advised in order to prevent dryness and add nourishment to the hair.
