Celeb chef: Food’s the word for Kalki Koechlin
She feels this mixed cultural upbringing is perhaps what made her appreciate different kinds of food too.

Chennai
Despite being a self-confessed foodie, the stunning Kalki Koechlin certainly doesn’t look like one, given her perfect figure. In fact, she loves experimenting with food and makes sure she tries the exotic food every place has to offer whenever she travels. Growing up in Puducherry, she’s been closely associated with south Indian food. Her daily diet included rasam, idli, rice and sambhar. She loves the cuisine here so much that she’s named her cat Dosa. Being of French dissent, she was also exposed to homemade bread, apple pie and different types of salads.
She feels this mixed cultural upbringing is perhaps what made her appreciate different kinds of food too. She also loves Bengali food, particularly fish made in mustard sauce. Kashmiri food is also one of her favourites. From mutton rista and yakhni to Kashmiri gushtaba, she loves it all. She also indulges in street food once in a while. She loves the desi paani puri.
Of late though, it seems like the bento breakfast has caught her fancy. Hailing from Japan, the bento is a wholesome meal. A bento box is a perfectly portioned, creative and fun way to pack in all the essential nutrients in one meal. Kalki has been sharing pictures of bentos for a while now.
Coming to cooking, although she doesn’t like doing it often, she does enjoy it when she has to do it for her friends. She loves baking cakes and has learnt to make momos recently.
