Ingredients such as chocolate, bananas and strawberry many of them melting and having us drool and itch to get one for ourselves.

“I was in Mumbai when I came across this popular shop The Belgian Waffle Co. My visits to the place were initially to satisfy my sweet tooth but as time passed by, I heard that there were several outlets opened in other parts of India and decided to open one here,” said Shantanu Jain, franchise owner of The Belgian Waffle Co in Chennai. “The waffle sandwich which is popularly known as waff-wich is one convenient way to satisfy your cravings for waffles with ice-cream. Your desired fillings clubbed with ice-cream in between two waffles that gives the best possible flavour in one bite.”

Shantanu added, “Belgian Chocolate Milk and Naked Nutella are two signature flavours preferred by customers. It is 100 per cent vegetarian with no imported ingredients for making the batter. The batter for normal waffles and waffle sandwiches is the same with the exception of adding ice cream in between. It is the perfect dessert option if you crave melting chocolate/fruit flavours with ice cream and crispy waffles on two sides.”

Ever had pancakes in the shape of mini idlis covered in flavours that sets off your taste buds as you bite? These ‘poffertjes’ are made with yeast and buckwheat flour and baked in the traditional griddles whose origin is the Netherlands. They are cooked on each side until golden and finished off with a few dots of butter, a sprinkling of powdered sugar and sometimes syrup. It is a completely vegetarian and egg-less dessert.

Remy Peter, the owner of Westfield, said, “We use the recipe from the Dutch so some of the ingredients are imported. Our customers love when it is served with ice cream. It is famous among kids and they prefer to have Nutella drizzled over their mini pancakes for their dinner.” She continued, “We had our team train in the original recipe in Belgium and Amsterdam and procured a poffertjes griddle from abroad.”
