Vaani Kapoor is on a whirlwind promotional tour of her upcoming film War hitting the screens onOctober 2 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Produced by Adithya Chopra under his banner Yash Raj Films, Vani’s role in the film has been predominantly kept under wraps. “I wouldn’t want to talk much about my role as it would be a huge give away. However, what I can say is that the connect it will have with the story will elevate the film and its characters. Though the screen time is less compared to normal heroine characters that you would watch in an Indian film, the impact that it will create is huge,” she tells us.
Vaani also opens up on working with her male co-stars Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff. “I had no combination scenes with Tiger in War. Meanwhile, working with Hrithik made me feel at home. Despite being a pan-Indian star, he was helpful in getting my rhythm right for the dance number of Ghungroo. It was a great learning curve and I also sustained injuries and cuts when we shot for it. I have a few stunt sequences without a body double in the film for which we shot in the most beautiful places across the globe, she says. Having said that the actress thinks twice to agree that War could be the most challenging films of her career. “I am only three films old. So, I cannot really comment if this is the most challenging role I have performed. Each film comes to an artiste with its own challenges and responsibilities. That way, War has been an amazing journey,” she smiles.
It’s been five years since Vaani signed a film in the south after Aaha Kalyanam alongside Nani. However, she denies that her focus lies with north in Bollywood. “I am just waiting for the right script to happen in Tamil or Telugu. There are new filmmakers with refreshing scripts, and I hope to sign a film down south soon.”
Her soul sister Raashi Khanna is one of the most celebrated heroines here. “I love that girl,” she says with a broad grin. Their latest pictures together have set huge vacation goals for besties and Vaani reveals, “Yes. Raashi and I make it a point to give time for each other whenever we have a break and those pictures were during our recent vacation.”
