Kamal Haasan recently posted a picture of him with AR Rahman and announced his new project Thalaivan Irukkiran, which will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions. Some exclusive updates from the movie unit we hear are that Thalaivan Irukkiran is the sequel to Kamal Haasan’s Thevar Magan (1992) and the film is all set to be comedian Vadivelu’s biggest comeback in Kollywood. It is worth mentioning that Vadivelu essayed the role of Esakki, a character that put him in the limelight 27 years ago in Tamil cinema. The duo since then has worked together in Singaravelan, Maharasan and Kaadhala Kaadhala. A source told DT Next, “After Imsai Arasan 24aam Pulikesi was dropped, Vadivelu agreed to do a film for Lyca for the remuneration he had received for the sequel. However, Kamal decided to rope in Vadivelu and convinced Lyca that Esakki was one of the pivotal characters in the film. Hence, Vadivelu was the actor-director’s obvious choice for the movie.” The source also added that Kamal has penned the character of Esakki in a strong way in Thalaivan Irukkiran. The film is already touted to be the comedian’s biggest comeback post his hiatus after Vijay’s mersal.
Thalaivan Irukkiran will talk about subjects like caste, education system, economics, and political theories. The film is also said to be a big-budget multi-starrer. Four years ago, Kamal had approached Saif Ali Khan to play an important role in the film.
