EPS slams DMK regime over murder of govt school teacher in Thanjavur
Ramani, a native of Chinnamanai village, was stabbed to death by Madhan, also from the same village, for rejecting his marriage proposal.
CHENNAI: Hours after the murder of a teacher and an advocate in Thanjavur and Hosur districts respectively, Leader of Opposition Edappadi K Palaniswami expressed shock over the incidents and said murders have become common under the ‘incompetent’ DMK regime, which has failed to maintain law and order in the State.
He charged that Chief Minister MK Stalin focused on publicity stunts instead of attending to his primary responsibility of maintaining the state’s law and order. He urged the CM to ensure that no such incidents occur in the future.
Ramani, a native of Chinnamanai village, has been working as a temporary teacher in the government high school in Mallipattinam in Thanjavur district, was stabbed to death by fellow villager Madhavan for rejecting his marriage proposal.
In yet another incident, Kannan, an advocate, was hacked to death by a fellow advocate over personal enmity in broad daylight near the court complex in Hosur.
“I strongly condemn the DMK government for failing to maintain law and order. It has reached the point where government employees, including teachers and doctors, and advocates are not safe in their workplaces," Palaniswami said in his post in X.
Meanwhile, AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran has also weighed in on the issue and condemned the killing of the government teacher on the school campus. He said that the shocking incident indicates that the law and order situation has declined to a new low.
Meanwhile, BJP leader K Annamalai on Wednesday strongly criticised the DMK government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the State. He pointed out the two murders as evidence of the government's failure.
He demanded that CM Stalin take responsibility for the State's descent into lawlessness, urging the government to focus on resolving issues rather than diverting attention.
