TVK forms 10 zones; in-charges under Vijay's direct watch

CHENNAI: In a major organisational move ahead of next year's elections, actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay has divided the State's 234 Assembly constituencies into 10 administrative zones, appointing two in-charges for each zone to strengthen the party's groundwork and supervise district-level activities.

According to party insiders, the newly appointed zonal in-charges will function directly under Vijay's supervision, monitoring the work of district secretaries and ensuring coordination between grassroots cadre and the central leadership. Each zone will comprise around 23 Assembly seats, with two in-charges overseeing political mobilisation, membership drives, and constituency-level campaign preparations.

"The zonal in-charges will play a key role in intensifying party activities and ensuring seamless coordination ahead of the elections," a senior functionary said, adding that they will also handle campaign arrangements once Vijay finalises his strategy and reschedules his statewide tour.

The appointments come soon after a crucial meeting of the party's administrative committee on Wednesday, during which the panel reviewed district-level progress and discussed the upcoming electoral roadmap. The TVK's 28-member administrative committee, personally constituted by Vijay, is expected to take major policy and organisational decisions.

Party sources said an official announcement naming the zonal in-charges will be made shortly, followed by a special general council meeting scheduled for November 5.
