Hindustan Eagles get the better off Chennai City FC in football's senior division league

Chennai
Defending champions Hindustan Eagles pulled off a 2-1 win over Chennai City FC in the Chennai Football Association senior division league at the Nehru Stadium here on Sunday.
Chennai City FC who were promoted from the first division this year, tasted their first loss in more than a year and in 12 matches. Chennai City won all their 11 matches last year to top the first division league convincingly.
Hindustan Eagles broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when O Francis found the target. They doubled the lead, just after the hour mark, when S Nandakumar found the back of the net.
Desperate to get back into the match, Chennai City FC pressed hard and reduced the arrears when Regin scored two minutes from time. However, in the end, Eagles' one-goal lead proved too much for Chennai City FC.
S Nandakumar was awarded the man-of-the-match for a good all-round performance.
Earlier, in a first division league match, Sports Authority of India (SAI) beat Central Excise 1-0. Ashok Kumar scored the lone goal of the match in the 49th minute.
