Malvika Bansode of Maharashtra entered the final of the under-19 girls singles final defeating Amolika Singh of UP.

Malvika, who hails from Nagpur and trained by Kiran Morkode, won a close match in three games, the last game going down the wire. Malvika engaged Amolika in long rallies and finished off the game with fast jag that left her opponent falling on the court. Just before she won the last point, Malvika was advised by the referee to hasten the game when she was taking her time to get a grip on the artificial surface. She was sweating profusely which made the court slippery.

Malvika had a tough game in the quarter-finals too when she upset No 11 seed Mugdha Agrey 21-10,19-21,21-15 on her way to the semi-finals. Earlier, No 7 seed Gayatri Gopichand had entered the final in the under-17 section beating Malvika Bansod 21-17, 21-18 to set up a meeting with top seed Aakarshi Kashyap who had defeated Samiya Imad Farooqui to enter the semi-finals.
