St. Dominic’s girls bag golden double
St. Dominic’s Girls Higher Secondary School came out with flying colours in the Chennai-leg of the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports Athletics Championships by winning the junior and senior girls’ titles at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Delci Arockia led the charge for St. Dominic’s by winning the 400m (1 min 02.43 secs) in the junior girls while R Kiruthika won the 800m (2 min 32.67 secs) and Naga Priya clinched the triple jump gold (11.84m) for the school in the senior girls category.
J Coleshiya of St. Teresa’s Higher Secondary School, who leapt 5.46m to win the long jump gold and claimed the silver in triple jump (11.61m) was adjudged the best athlete in junior girls.
PM Thabitha of JGG Government Girls Higher Secondary School also sizzled with a golden double in the 100m (12.81 secs) and the triple jump (11.65m). In the senior girls’ category, A Sherin of St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School was the best athlete. She won the long jump gold (5.76m) and the silver in triple jump (11.68).
R Roshini of St. Francis Xavier Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School claimed a sprint double winning the 200m (26.41 secs) and 400m (1:00.48). Over 1200 athletes from more than 280 schools and colleges competed in the meet.
