South Africa is in Australia for three One Day Internationals, beginning on Sunday, plus a one-off T20 International which concludes the tour on November 17. The visitor failed to bat out its 50 overs, as it was skittled out for a paltry 173 with over 13 overs to play.

Opener Aiden Markram and David Miller both fell short of half-centuries, as they top scored with 47 and 45 respectively, while there was some resistance lower down the order as Dale Steyn (20) and Kagiso Rabada’s unbeaten 28 carried the team total to competitive territory. In what was a stuttering innings for the Proteas, no less than four players were sent back to the pavilion without adding to the scorecard as Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Farhaan Behardien and Imran Tahir were all dismissed for a duck.
