Premier League Football club: Solskjaer, United’s permanent manager
Manchester United has appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as its permanent manager on a three-year contract, the Premier League club said on Thursday.

The 46-year-old Norwegian has guided United to 14 wins in 19 matches in all competitions as caretaker boss since replacing Jose Mourinho in December. Initially viewed as purely a stop-gap option, the former United striker has exceeded all expectations and now has his reward.
“This is the job that I always dreamed of doing. I’m beyond excited to have the chance to lead the club long-term and hopefully I can deliver continued success that our amazing fans deserve,” Solskjaer said in a statement on United’s website. “From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club. It was an honour to be a United player, and then to start my coaching career here,” he added.
After instantly turning around United’s form, it has won 10 of its 13 Premier League games since he was appointed, Solskjaer sealed his job with the dramatic comeback win at French champion Paris St Germain. His positive approach to the players, supported by Alex Ferguson’s former assistant Mike Phelan, resulted in a transformation of the mood around Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.
