M Karunanidhi to be out of hospital in a day or two, says Stalin
Leader of Opposition and son of ailing DMK president M Karunanidhi, M K Stalin said, ailing DMK leader M Karunanidhi is “improving” and his discharge from a private hospital will be decided in a day or two.

Talking to media persons here, Stalin said, “His (Karunanidhi) health is improving well and a decision on his returning home will be taken in a day or two.” Stalin earlier greeted party General Secretary and the No 2 in the ranks, K Anbazhagan, on turning 95, and heaped encomiums on him. Earlier in the day, state BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan visited Karunanidhi at Kauvery Hospital and told reporters that she would pray for his speedy recovery.
The state BJP chief has visited a few days after Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi had “met and personally wished him well” in the company of his party senior Digvijay Singh and P Chidambaram. Political leader Pazha Karuppiah and Congress leader Sundarshana Natchiyappan visited the leader in the hospital.
DTNext had reported that the DMK chief was breathing normally and the tube (tracheostomy) inserted through his throat had been closed and he would be discharged in a week. Karunanidhi was hospitalised on Thursday, December 15 after he complained of breathing difficulties caused by throat and lung infection. The following day he underwent tracheostomy after which his health had reportedly showed significant improvement.
