New Chief Secretary must order CBI probe: PMK
The Pattali Makkal Katchi pressed for a threadbare probe by CBI into the alleged corrupt practices by Rama Mohana Rao, former Chief Secretary of the state, and IPS officers involved in the scandal.

PMK founder S Ramadoss in a statement said that the information that the former Chief Secretary misused his power to make quick buck was shocking. “In the entire history of Tamil Nadu, the Income-Tax department officials raiding the office of a chief secretary was unheard of. The taxmen had raided 14 places including Rao’s house and office in the secretariat. During the searches, the raid parties had seized property documents to the tune of thousands of crores, cash and gold,” he said.
Charging that the corrupt former secretary complained of chest pain and was hospitalised only to evade enquiry, Ramadoss noted, it was a clear indication that he was in hospital to buy time for running away from the next course of action.
“On the other hand, there is a yet-another shocking news, in which Mohana Rao made a whopping Rs 360 crore-contract with Andhra Pradesh-based Padmavathi Hospitality, a contracting agency, which is maintaining conservancy works in all the government hospitals by appointing contractual workers across the state,” the PMK leader said and pointed out that the contract agency was run by Mohana Rao’s son Vivek and his relative Baskar Naidu.
Fearing that there could be a change in the government the former chief secretary had completed the same contract well before May 2016 Assembly elections, the PMK leader said. He also demanded the new chief secretary to order a CBI (Special Investigation Team) investigation and cancel the contracts of ‘benami’ organisations of Ram Mohana Rao.
