Signatures forged, O Panneerselvam men complain

The AIADMK (Amma) and AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) groups have over the last few months continued to submit affidavits signed by grass root party workers in support of their respective leaders in a bid to win the frozen ‘Two Leaves’ symbol. Maitreyan told DT Next , “According to the EC’s instructions we have to submit some copies of the affidavits of each group to the other to ensure cross checking.
It is thus that we came to realise many instances of differences in signatures. When the name mentioned at the top of the affidavit is Krishnamurthy, the signature is that of Elumalai. We feel that such signatures are thus forged and hence the affidavits cannot be said to be bona fide.” While AIADMK (A) has submitted 7 lakh affidavits till date, the AIADMK (PTA) faction has submitted around 4 lakh affidavits.
Meanwhile, Deepa Jayakumar has submitted around 1 lakh affidavits. Submission of affidavits is expected to gain momentum once the Presidential poll slated for July 17 ends. “If controversies arise, then the issue will in all probability be settled after the VP election scheduled for August 5,” EC officials revealed.
