11 pilots awarded ‘wings’ at INS Rajali after passing out parade
Eleven pilots, who underwent a 21- week rigorous training course, were awarded ‘wings’ by Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, Flag Officer Commanding- in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, at the INS Rajali in Arakkonam on Friday.

Earlier, Karambir Singh reviewed a Guard of Honour and took the salute at the passing out parade.
Cadet Vishnu Menon was awarded the Kerala Governor’s Rolling Trophy for being adjudged the best outgoing cadet, while Sahil Madaan was awarded the Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command’s rolling trophy. A Book Prize was also awarded to Lieutenant Amit Singh for standing first in ground subjects.
The cadets had passed the 90th HCC (helicopter conversion course) and the 6th DOCC (Dornier conversion course).
They underwent rigorous training for 21 weeks in flying and aviation subjects at Indian Naval Air Squadron 561, the Helicopter Training School (HTS).
The two officers of 6th DOCC, inducted as pilots in the fixed wing Maritime Reconnaissance stream of the Naval Air Arm also underwent similar training at INAS 550 at Kochi.
INS Rajali is the largest operational air base of the Indian Navy and is commanded by Commodore TV Sunil.
The graduated pilots will be appointed to various front-line units and will take on varied missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, SAR and anti-piracy patrols.
