Rescue operation on full swing in Nilgiris: Minister RP Udhayakumar
In all the affected areas in Nilgiris, rescue operations are taking place in full swing, says Minister RP Udhayakumar.

As a result of the arrival of Southwest monsoon there is heavy rains in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, due to which the inflow of water in Tamil Nadu is high. In Nilgiris, heavy rain started on 5th August and has currently lessened.
Regarding this Minister RP Udhayakumar told the reporters that around 15,000 people living in steep areas were rescued. He also said that all the necessities for the people in relief camps are taken care and they can live in the camps until the weather gets better.
He asked the people not to go where water flow is high or attempt to take selfie.
He said that Rs 10lakh will be provided for the families who lost their loved ones as announced by the Chief Minister.
He assured that in Nilgiris teams from Tamil Nadu National Disaster Rescue Force, Indian National Disaster Rescue Force and firemen are working for 24 hours and JCP is being used to remove the debris due to landslide.
