Can coronavirus be transmitted from pets?

A message warning people to be careful around animals is going viral on social media. This comes following a news stating that a tiger in New York zoo tested positive for coronavirus.

On investigation, it was found that there is no evidence to prove that the disease can be transmitted from animals. It is advised to follow safety habits to be in the safer side and that abandoning one's pet is not a choice.
